Rev. Dr. Cynthia Curry

Cynthia is a professor at the University of Theology and Spirituality (UTS). She is an ordained minister through One Spirit Learning Alliance and Seminary in New York and received an additional ordination through the National Association of Congregational Churches.  She is Assisting Minister at First Congregational Church of Tacoma and has served in the past as a Deacon, and currently as a Trustee and Moderator. Rev. Dr. Cynthia Curry has a BA from the Evergreen State College and has master’s studies in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.  She received her Doctor of Divinity Degree from the University of Theology and Spirituality.  Dr. Curry also has received 4 units of CPE through UTS Institute of Chaplaincy and is in process of becoming a Board-Certified Chaplain through CSCPF (Center for Spiritual Care and Pastoral Formation). In addition to the above, Rev. Dr. Cynthia Curry is a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant through the Celebrant Institute and Foundation and has an active Wedding and Funeral Ministry.  Dr. Curry is skilled in creating ceremonies that blend various religious and cultural traditions.  She also is Certified in pre-marital counseling through Prepare-Enrich.  Dr. Curry has worked as a Residential Counselor with people who have mental illness and, she has worked as a Chaplain with the homeless. Dr. Curry was raised in the Christian tradition and is a life-long learner and has deep interests in Interfaith/Interspiritual and Cultural topics and workshops. Her course of studies included Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Yoruba, Native American/Indigenous and 12-Step Spirituality, traditions.  She has participated in several workshops including those held at The Parliament of World Religions and the Dawn of Interspirituality and has been blessed to meet and dialogue in person, with many of the leaders and authors of this movement. Rev. Curry is single, lives in the Puget Sound area of the United States and is a mother of 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren…with three of the grandchildren residing in her home…ages 2 years to 18 years.  She loves animals including her very large police dog and every morning the crows greet her outside her home, looking for peanuts.  Rev. Curry is an artist and when she can find the time, paints in acrylics or sketches in pencil and charcoal.  Besides her studies, her interests include travel, keeping up on the news, listening to books and podcasts, comedy (to dilute the news), walking outside along the waterfront and journaling.  She feels fortunate to have her family, including her siblings nearby in the beautiful Puget Sound area.
