Dr. D.W. “Donovan,” D.Bioethics, MA, MS, BCC
D.W. "Donovan" served as the Chief Mission Integration Officer for Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he provides executive oversight for Mission Integration, Spiritual Care, clinical and organizational ethics, and Ministry Leadership Formation. Prior to joining Providence in 2009, Donovan served for ten years with Bon Secours Richmond Health System, first as a staff chaplain and then as the Regional Manager for Spiritual Care. He is a Board-Certified Chaplain, with Masters
degrees in Theology, Counseling, and Medical Ethics. He graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with his doctorate in Medical Ethics in 2015. Donovan is an accomplished presenter and facilitator, with a long history of presentations at the local, regional, state, and system levels. He has experience teaching both online and as a guest lecturer information programs and at the university level. With twenty-two years of experience in healthcare ministry and twenty-eight years as a professional lay minister within the Catholic Church, Donovan has served as a mentor to many adult learners over the years. He approaches educational programs as an opportunity to integrate one’s own personal values and beliefs with a substantial study of the theological and ethical disciplines. Married with three young boys and a dog, Donovan is a veteran basketball referee with over twenty years of officiating experience in both high school and college. He is also an avid reader and can often be found sipping a cup of coffee and reading in his study or at Barnes and Noble.
